FAQ'S: Tuition / Payment - Portage Learning


  • Is financial aid available?

    No, financial aid is not available. Portage does not participate in the federal financial aid programs. We work to help our students by keeping our costs low. When taking the course through traditional schools, you may incur costs for registration fees, text books, lab fees, and technology fees. Portage does not have additional fees beyond the tuition. All written materials are included in the course, and there are no text books to purchase. Collectively the Portage Learning courses are not a degree; they are a select group of college courses to fulfill prerequisites. Completed courses are intended for transfer to the student’s “home” institution where the student is/will be degree seeking. Accordingly, the Portage Learning division functions as the “host” and therefore, the College is not permitted to issue state or federal financial aid or veterans benefits [to include but not limited to GoArmy, Tuition Assistance, GI Benefits, 529 Plans, or AmeriCorps] for enrollment in the Geneva-Portage courses.

  • Does enrollment in Portage Learning courses qualify for student loan deferment?

    No, we have been advised by the Department of Education that we are not able to complete in-school loan deferment certification for the following reasons. Portage Learning provides a select group of college courses to fulfill prerequisites primarily for those pursuing a degree in the health professions; collectively these courses are not a degree.  Completed courses are intended for transfer to your "home" institution where you are/will be degree seeking. Therefore, in accordance with the Department of Education guidelines, we are not eligible to issue financial aid nor does enrollment as a visiting transient student qualify for loan deferment.  Certification for student loan deferment needs to be from your "home" institution where you are currently enrolled in a degree program.

  • Does Portage Learning offer a military discount?

    Absolutely! We provide 10% military discount on all courses to currently enlisted military personnel and veterans. Email proof of enlistment and/or discharge [DD-214] along with the course(s) you plan to enroll in to studentservices@portagelearning.com for registration instructions.

  • Do Portage Learning courses qualify for veteran benefits?
    No, as outlined under financial aid, the College is not permitted to issue state or federal financial aid or veterans benefits [to include but not limited to GoArmy, Tuition Assistance, or GI Benefits] for enrollment in the Portage Learning courses.
  • What is the tuition charge for Portage courses?
    The tuition for each course is listed on the Courses menu of the website: www.portagelearning.com/courses
  • How can I pay my course tuition?
    Tuition is due in full at the time of registration through our secure registration page by using any major credit card or debit card.Payment plan option is available through PayPal Credit, which offers a 6-month, interest free installment plan upon approval. Email studentservices@portagelearning.com for details.
  • What is the refund policy?
    Students enrolled in Portage Learning course(s) may withdraw with written notice to studentservices@portagelearning.com. Include the number and title of course(s) and a brief statement indicating the reason for withdrawal.Tuition charges are refunded in accordance with the drop/add policy outlined below. Further, the tuition refund will be reduced by $50 per course for processing/administrative fees. After the drop/add period no further refunds are granted, although a student may still withdraw from an incomplete course.A refund for a course will not be given if either of the following has occurred:Thirty (30) calendar days or more have elapsed since the date of registration for the course or anything beyond module one (1) exam has been submitted.Students should be aware that the date of registration is not the date a course was started; i.e., even if a course was not started and 30 days have elapsed since date of registration, no refund is granted.
  • Where is my receipt for tuition paid?
    Receipt of tuition paid is in your student dashboard under "My Documents."
